To sum this up, Razors initial release was non-retail.  I have also heard reports that people who downloaded the original have been able to play to the end.  In that case, if you already have the other version there is little reason to download another 8gb.  For those that don’t have it, this is the properly cracked retail release.

The nuke in this case is not saying the release doesn’t work but its not an actual ISO. This version should still work until there is a proper release for all of you out there that want to have this right now.

As a note many people are having problems just before it actually installs it says please insert “Photoshop CS4 into drive”. To fix this simply copy the installation files to the hard-drive and install from there.

aPOCALYPSE pRODUCTION cREW (aPC), was thought to be first organized ‘warez‘ group to coordinate the pre-release uploading of mp3s to the Internet. Founded in 1997 by members known as acid^rain and Viper, aPC’s forté was the pre-release of music CDs which they obtained from music industry insiders and magazine workers. The group was raided as part of Operation Fastlink.

According to evidence presented at his May 2008 trial, Barry E. Gitarts, aka ‘Dextro’, operated and financed a server based in Texas which was used by aPC to store thousands of music files, movies, software and games. The New York resident was convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Copyright Infringement.

On Friday, Gitarts, aged 25, was sentenced in Alexandria federal court to 18 months in jail for his role in aPC.

Another ex-member of aPC, Jacob Stahler, aka Lunatik, was on the witness list at the May trial, and there has been speculation that he testified against Gitarts. Stahler himself was also convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Copyright Infringement, but was later sentenced to just 2 years probation.

So far there have been a total 15 criminal convictions of aPC members, including that of Mark Shumaker of Florida (aka ‘MarkAlso’), a previous leader of the group who already admitted criminal copyright infringement back in 2003.

The United States Department of Justice announced today that Daniel Dove, a former administrator for Elite Torrents, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, after which Dove will serve three years of supervised release (probation), and must pay a $20,000 fine. It’s been almost two years since the first conviction against a former Elite Torrents admin, and the punishment in that case looks positively inviting by comparison; Grant Stanley, then 26, was sentenced to five months of jail, five months of house arrest, three years of probation, and a $200 assessment. Quick, kids, which one would you pick?

Dove appears to have received a harsher sentence than Stanley due to the nature of his relationship with Elite Torrents. While Grant Stanley was an administrator for the group, and clearly benefited from years of free movies and music, Dove was directly involved in operations that kept the torrent network running. According to the prosecution, Dove both recruited members with extremely high upload connections and ran a high-speed server for the purpose of distributing pirated content out to the members of this group. Dove’s activities, in other words, were crucial to the continued existence of Elite Torrents, and that probably merited a bit of special punishment in the government’s eyes.

Prosecutors allege that Elite Torrents had some 125,000 members at its height, and shared approximately 700 movies which were collectively downloaded 1.1 million times. It’s too bad there’s no system for distributing jail time, probation, and fines—if Dove could tap that user base of 125,000 people, he’d end up serving around 6.3 minutes of jail time, 12.6 minutes of probation, and paying just 16¢ of that $20,000 fine.

As a former member of ET, this story particularity hits home. I respect what they did for bittorrent as it was one of the greatest sites of the time. Its just a shame that copyright infringement gets more jail time then many more heinous crimes.

A bad news came today from American Department of Justice: A US man has been jailed for 30 months for copyright infringement over his involvement in the warez scene. David M. Fish, 26, of Woodbury, Connecticut, was further sentenced to three years on probation this week after he pleaded guilty to criminal copyright infringement and circumvention offences. The computer equipment used by Fish to commit the offences was forfeited. Fish served as the site operator as well as a scripter, equipment supplier, broker and encoder for warez sites between January 2003 and July 2005, according to court papers. His work involved circumventing copyright controls on DVDs and uploading content.

In the Southern District of Iowa case, Fish participated in a separate warez site from Jan. 21, 2003, through April 21, 2004. The warez server used in this case was determined to contain approximately 13,000 pirated software titles including movies, games, utility software and music. Transfer logs confirm that defendant Fish assisted in the uploading of 131 software titles and downloading 373 software titles to and from the warez FTP server.

The case is part of Operation Copycat, an investigation by the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office targeting online warez groups that illegally distribute newly-released movies, games, software and music online. Operation Copycat has resulted in 40 convictions thus far as part of a larger federal crackdown against the illegal distribution of copyrighted materials, known as Operation Site Down. Affected groups included such names as MYTH, Centropy, HOODLUM, VENGEANCE or Corrupt.
